Default a race between stangs...

this is going to be going down around march after both cars are done.

First Stang:
'88 fox lx.
-Fresh 302 with tfs stage 1 cam, lightly ported gt40's and gasket matched gt40 intake.
-150k aod, prolly on it's last leg, but with a 2800 stall, shift kit, cooler
-Stock rear with 4.10's.
-4cyl springs up front and mac u/l ca's out back, only suspension mods.
-All bolt ons(65mm tb, cai, shorty headers, hpipe, flow's dumped, upr udp's)
-weight reduction, gutted behind rear seats, no a/c smog or hvac

The thing that may kill this car is he's going to try and run it with the speed density, so who knows how well it's going to run. we're going to throw my wideband in it to make sure it's not lean but no tune is in the agenda for this, if it's lean he's doing a a9l swap.

Second stang:
-02 v6 coupe
-'01 gt drivetrain, 80kmiles, full bolt ons(tune, 70mm tb/plenum, cai, longtubes, xpipe, slp catback, bbk udp's)
-stock 3650 trans with stage 2 clutch and mgw shortshifter, alum driveshaft
-stock 8.8 with 3.73's
-upr u/l ca's and h&r lowering springs, heavy 18" wheels.

I'm guessing they're both going to put down around 260hp, the fox is obviously lighter but has that aod going against him. I'm thinking it's going to be a drivers race at both dig and a roll, what's everyone elses opinion?

I don't think that 302 is going to be able to do as much from a roll with that stall. He ought to get off the line pretty well though, between the 4.10s, springs, and the stall.

I kinda guessed that if the fox will run right that it'll be pretty neck and neck from a dig but from a roll the new edge would edge him out.

Actually, i think it should be real close. My buddy has a 95 Cobra with a full Trick Flow HCI package, 3.73's, and put's down 300 rwhp. I have a full bolt on 04 gt with 270 rwhp, and when we race it's so close every time...even from a roll.

Now, granted the 88 fox you're talking about is a little lighter, but it probably has a little less hp than my buddy's 95. Plus his is a 5 speed as well.

Should be an interesting race.

they got this race done a month or two ago, just forgot aobut this thread. the 4.6 won by about 2 cars. they went from a 20 roll, and the fox had the stock converter in it at the time.

but now the fox is doing a t5 and mass air swap. should be back on the raod this weekend for another race, prolly a lot closer this time.

when I swaped out my AOD for a T5 I droped a entire second off my 1/4 mile time.

I would say the fox has it in the bag now.

yea, the automatics they put in the 5.0's where HORRIBLE.

shifted slow, super low converter, heavy, sapped a ton of power.

fully built the AOD's are ok, but in stock form there just pathetic.
