Default what will this car run?

Hey guys. GM guy here with some questions. I'm no troll, just looking for some answers.

Local guy just brought home a fox body with a 347 cid na engine 394hp to the wheels. No idea what dyno or what the tq was. No weight reduction, 356 gear IIRC. 5 speed car.

Ballpark, any idea what this car will run in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile with an average driver? I think it will be a good run for me.

Just a little info on my car, it's an 06 M6 GTO. Pretty basic heads/cam/gear car. 452/409. Runs mid 7s in the eighth. Never been on a 1/4 mile track.

Thanks in advance.
Clint

itll be a high 12 second car. there isnt enough gear in it, he'll be trapping around 5k rpm.

For a reference point, my 347 SN-95 will be running 4.30's, so I can roll through the beams around 6700 rpm... I expect low 11's in my car.... again

Gears must make a huge difference in these cars!

12s is what one of the other local mustang guys is thinking as well. I figured it would be mid - high 11s. 394 hp is nothing to sneeze at in a car as light as a fox.

Thanks for the reply.

gears make a huge difference in any car. But it all comes down to the efficientcy down the track. 3.55's are not a good track gear for a stang, most have 4.10's or higher

is it a hatch or a notch back? a notch is several hundred pounds lighter then a hatch so that could make a big difference.

400WHP and your guessing hig 12s????? Are you serious? This is an easy 11 second car on race rubber.

Wow. Some off the wall posts being made. Like BB said, that's and 11 second car all day with some traction.

Clint, as long as you've got some sticky tires under your GTO, it should be a decent run. I think that with his weight advantage, he will get you though.

IMO, all things being equal, a 400 rwhp fox body should have the edge over a 450 rwhp GTO.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm trying to get something lined up but I think it's going to rain for the remainder of the month. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

The whole thing was a wash. My buddy with an 06 A4 GTO/vararam/slp diablo tuner, out ran him from a 65 roll. He was not sold a 390hp car. I feel bad for the guy. Car even came with a dyno sheet. Bad deal all the way around.
