Default Beginner Questions

1. What is the distance you run at a drag strip? Like 13 second time is for what distance?

2. The 60' 2 second times are for 60 feet?

3. What time should a stock 12' GT have (after getting used to the car), 13sec?

Also, is it possible to get a sub 10 second car (within reason)?

What is a good average time for a car? Ex. 11 great, 12 good 14 ****ty, etc

Do you guys measure 0-60 at all? Thats how i have always measured power of cars along with hp.

high 12s with a good driver.

Only magazines measure 0-60

^ blue's pretty much got you covered. a stock '12 gt should run low 13's/high 12's depending on weather, elevation of the track and driver skill. to get into the 11's you'll need basically full bolt ons and a good tire/suspension set up. If you'd like 10's on top of that throw a 150 shot on it and you should get in the 10's for sure. IMO, 12's are quick, 11's are fast, and 10's and lower are real fast lol.

also, the way a lot of measure power is not with a 0-60 time, it's all about how high of mph you can reach in the 1/4 mile. for example, a stock '12 gt will be around 110 area i believe. however if you have the power to reach 10's you'll be in the mid 120's. mph always seems to stay similar even when you spin a lot or something, which is why we use it. if you run high 11's at 130 mph you obviously have a much faster car than the time slip suggests. where as if you run high 11's at 115 or so you're right about where you should be for that horsepower.
