Default Notchback build?

I just spotted a sick looking ( stock lol) 85'ish notch back at my work used car lot. Body is clean, flat black. Interior is clean as well. Lock on the driver side is broken, hood latch is busted and there is a head gasket leak on the left cylinder head. Looks stock, right down to the rusty headers lol

It's an automatic.

Wiring looks legit and the intake is stock.

I am gonna offer $800/CASH for it on Monday

It doesn't have to run perfect, I just need it to park in my employee spot during the winter anyways while I plan up some goodies.

Before I go yanking the motor or digging too deep into the plan..

what kind of mods does it take to get this car into the 12's or 11's??

If I can build a killer drag strip/weekend warrior car for $10k.. I might do that instead of dumping it into my Charger. I'll still get headers and a cam to run that mid 12's but that's it for the ol' RT if I do get that Notch..

It doesn't take much.. Nice cleaning of the engine, or a swap and a simple H/C/I and some spray will have you moving.. I'm not completely familiar with the 85 but the later year fox's (89,90) had solid internals and didn't require notching for smaller cams.. I think 87 and previous you have to be careful with valve clearance..

I knew I should have spoken to someone last Saturday when I first saw it. I know the service manager over at that dealership and I know the sales Manager from ours has the hook up as well!

Too bad, soo sad, eh? lol

$500?!...

- Dude!

I am on a quest to find one before next Spring time. If I find one, I'll fix it up with the supercharger money I had planned on for my Charger

I was planning on a compression test, and then head gaskets, and a full tune up.

I wanted to get a Pro-Charger for it

Not happening now! Buah!
