Default Focus ST in my garage.

Picked one up as a DD a few weeks ago, and also to mod a bit. Those cars have had my interest up for awhile, so I pulled the trigger. Part of it was wanting something different, the other was staying somewhat practical, but still be able to modify. Anyway, its a 2015. She's black with yellow seat inserts, gunmetal 18s. Handles and brakes like nobody's business. Stock it gets out of its own way decent, but not good enough. So Greddy was kind enough to hook me up with his guys up at Livernois Motorsports for direction. Ordered their tune and a colder thermostat. They said tuning is where its at, bolt-ons yield minimal gains. They made over 360wtq and a little over 240whp on their 2013 ST, so I ordered up and tuned it last night. HUGE gain. Its a small KO3 turbo, so it spools quick, peak torque at 2500 RPM, but wheezes over 5500 rpm. Anyway, I was going to track it this weekend but got rained out. Have a friend lined up to race, he has a stout cammed Mach. He will murder me still, but I hope to hang close up to 100 mph. Anyway, thought I'd share the latest project.

Sold the Z28. Transmission blew, so I had to make a call on it. Guy handed me what I paid for it, so I cut her loose. He texted me today to say he fixed it, stalled it, and ran it. Went 7.87 on a 1.67 60'. Thats all the info he gave me..

I guess to make this racer bench worthy, any guesses on ET's or results against said Mach? Mach makes 373/373, full bolt-ons, tires, 4.10s...never pulls good track times, but I've ran him before and its quick. He stayed dead even with my 06 GTO, tune/intake/manifold back exhaust. That GTO trapped 111mph.

YOUR GOING THE WRONG WAY !!!! lol

Seriously though, congrats on the Focus, sharp cars. A fellow coworker picked his up last year and loves it. Very impressive gains from a tune.

As for the matchup, I gotta go with the Mach, but it won't be a blow out.

I've got a '14, best of luck at the track as mine wanted to wheel hop something wicked. Still trapped 100mph though so its not bad, love the handling of it. I'm buying a house so mine will probably get gone in another year or so once the loan isnt upside down i need a truck so i can haul things and my mustang.

Haha! Orange, I've been catching it bigtime for getting a FWD! I'm going to get what I can reasonably get out of the ST, but definitely not trying to deny physics or anything. I've got my eyes open for a proper RWD to get down the 1/4 with. Something that is easy/cheap to find solid parts for.

I hope I can stay within a car or two behind the Mach up to 100mph. Never know though, might be closer or might be filing rape charges against him.

Dont doubt the ST its probably quicker than you think my friends with the G8 and SS were very shocked i was able to stay with them when they tried leaving me behind on the highway, in the corners they didnt stand a chance. I've had it on two wheels lol.

100 mph stock isn't bad at all. That's much better than the results being posted on the ST forums. I was hoping those reports were simply due to a lack of experience. Do you remember where you shifted? Mine doesn't wheel hop on the street, but it's liable to on a sticky track. It actually hook ok believe it or not. It does try to spin, but it's a smooth spin and very easy to regain. Anyway, now knowing you trapped 100, that gives me hope that this tune is good for 105 or so. Steeda went 13.2 at 107 in theirs, but it was on a 17" drag radial.

If you go with a Ford truck, I would go with an ecoboost. I use the 5.0 to pull my 18 foot boat, and with full coolers, boat, etc..it lugs a bit. It'll tow in 6th gear at 70 mph, but it doesn't like it. So considering you'll be pulling a lot more weight, definitely go turbo IMO.

That's basically what the guys at Livernois were telling me over the phone. Said it's a fast street car. You're right about the handling. I've pushed it around the turns some, but I simply don't have the nerve or experience to push the car as far as it wants to go. I'm used to my cars going fast in a straight line and trying to kill me on curves lol.

On the street it handles launching quote well, however i do have a rear motor mount. I shift at 5500 as once you get around 6k it absolutely falls on its face. Another biggie are boomba shifter cable bracket solid bushings. Mine were torn in half when i replaced them at 19k granted i drive hard. These vids were with with about 6k miles i think lol. I made two passes and quit i really thought i was going to break it the thing hopped so bad.

Last video was first pass, wore the helmet not knowing if i'd clip 13's, left too hard and spun an insane amount. Keep the volume up on the forward facing video youll hear it hop.

Wheelspin pass was 15.28 @ 97.46 2.58 60' second was 14.97 @98.18 2.50 60' watch my right leg on the vid with the helmet on lol, trying to peddle for any kind of traction with no luck, on the street a couple flicks and it will usually grab decently.

Yea, you were struggling bad for traction. At least the power is there to run 13s assuming traction is gained. I don't even rev mine to launch, just give it a couple thousand rpm and roll into it. Tracks are always harder to hook on with street tires, vs public roads. Explains a lot though in regards to how it does against other cars from a roll, street digs, etc.
