Default new challenger hemi's

messed around with a new challenger, auto. didnt really have a clean run, just both left the light slow then i nailed it and so did he (automatic).

i think those have the 8 speed autos and 475hp eh? i was in my '12 GT. how well do those run? i think those would be a close race with an edge, even though they're heavier, that gearing has to make up for it plus the extra power on top of that should have a few tenths at the strip i'd think.

So was it pretty close between you two ?

I'm not up on the newer cars, but did just spend 7 days on the Hot Rod Power Tour and got to "play" around with alot of different cars, but never ran a newer Challenger. Two of this year's stops were at drag strips with free runs for everyone. None of the tour cars were impressive because of the heat and everyone being on street tires, and no track prep. But still fun, most of the newer stuff...... Stangs, Camaros, Challengers were in the mid to upper 13's with good drivers.

The normal RT hemi is only 375 hp from the 5.7L. They have a "scat pack" option with the 6.4L that gets 475hp

Yeah, I had the initial jump and we kept going til 3rd and I was still ahead, so just a quick burst. That HEMI sounded good though.

I forgot the scat pack was the one to get the SRT motor. This car was a deep purple and I saw HEMI badges on the fender but I don't remember seeing an R/T badge.

485HP and an 8 speed transmission. They are slightly quicker than a Mustang stock to stock.

I think the HEMI emblems on the fender indicate a 5.7 RT.

As far as the 392/6.4 Hemis, from what I've seen they run about the same as 5.0s.

Right, it looks like the scat packs with the SRT motor will not have a HEMI fender badge but a different badge.

Even if this one was the 5.7 R/T, still sounded pretty good. I had my window rolled down and sh*t.

The 6.4 and 5.0s are pretty even, so if you were to get the jump you'd definitely stay ahead. And vice versa. Only way I can tell those Scat packs is by the bumble bee emblem deal on the front quarter panel. The sound usually gives them away too. Dammit they sound good! But even if you ran an R/T with a 5.7, there's no telling what he has done to it. Tunes and bolt ons do a lot for them.
