Default PCM calibration question

Have a 2012 gt. I bought the Ford Racing Pro Cal tuner. In order to have the right tune I need to register my car with Ford Racing and send them my VIN and PCM numbers.

The odd thing is the number on my PCM is cr3a-12a650-adB. The final character "B" has been crossed out and replaced with a "c" with a black marker.

I had the Ford dealer run the VIN and there is no record of the PCM ever being reflashed.

Any one have any idea why someone would do this? Should I give Ford Racing the original number or the "updated one"?

I just bought the car as a CPO from Ford

I would ask Ford Racing themselves and tell them what you just told us.

That was actually my first call. They're the ones who told me to contact the dealer. Guy at Ford Racing said it could of been a PCM update early in the cars life but Ford shows no record of it.

Give them the c version. You'll know right away if it's wrong when you load it in your car. Also, it's odd they would ask for the Pcm part number and not the strategy code. The code is what tuners use to identify what fuel map to use as the base for your tune.

Part # isn't accurate. There was a specific number on PCM they requested. It probably was the strategy code. I assumed it was a a calibration code of some sort but I used "part #" to describe it.

I think I'm gonna use the original number stamped on the PCM. I'm hoping it won't matter anyway because they're going to "remap" it anyway.
