I recently purchase a V6 3.8L 99 New Edge Mustang. It already had a custom exhaust installed. Cat back H pipe. My question, is there any way to tell if the car has already been custom tuned? I ask this question because it seems the car current has a good amount power in the mid range around 3000 RPMs when driving it.

 

No there is no easy way to tell if the car was tuned. The only way I could think of telling is if the 115 top speed limiter was removed.

 

So you're saying I need to put my foot in it and keep it there for minute. LOL.

 

First check for a chip, that would be obvious if its there.
If no chip, you can get a flash tuner and read out whats there and have someone check the file to see if it is stock to confirm.
