Default 2.3L Help Please

Hey guys, I'm new here. I own a 92 2.3L hatchback LX. The problem I'm having is, when I'm in drive or overdrive, and I'm sitting at a red light, sometimes my car will start shaking violently, and act like it wants to shut off. Also, I've noticed that my car isn't shifting like it used to. A few weeks ago I had my transmission checked for leaks because it was smoking pretty bad, and they sealed up the front and the back. It was running well after this, but now I have this problem most of the time. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks for the help in advance.

check to see if youre running on all 4 cylinders. when i blew a cylinder, on my way home, everytime i would stop at a light, or anywhere for that matter for more than a few minutes, the car would start to shake very violently and then start to stall out, and actually did a few times. maybe the guy that sold it to you, sold you a partially bad engine.

sounds like maybe its the POS tranny, i'd just try and find a good used one since people practically throw them away.
