Default Over Drive

Hello. I am new to the forum and to Mustangs. I recently bought a 2004 Mustang convertable V6 with what I think is a four speed auto. I was looking to replace the T-handle for the shifter and found an overdrive button ( no manuals came with the car). Can anyone explain if the car has a four speed auto and over drive or if it is a three speed with overdrive? I tried searching but did not have any luck. By the way I moved up from a Sebring and really do enjoy the Mustang much better.

It's a 4 speed...that includes the over drive. And good luck finding a shifter with an O/D button. I THINK I remember seeing ONE..but I can't remember where.

Yeah, the shifter ***** for autos are really really hard to find. I recall seeing a link for one also Harv, but I think it was cheap material and it wasn't very nice looking.

The stock one isn't horrendous, I would just leave it as is-- too much hassle to mess with it.

i would think that if you were to get one with the button for nitrous then that would work as an OD button if you re-wire it, dont quote me on that but i would think it would work.

That's a nice one. Looks like it would fit nice in your hand too.

depends. highway with it on, under 50 miles an hour turn it off. unless you have different gears.
