i want to add alot more horse power for pretty cheap so ive been looking at the JET racing chip. it says i can gain 30 horsepower. does any one know anything about chip in general? Are they reliable? will they mess up my car? are they a good idea how much horse power gain? i need the scoop on them.

 

Personally, I don'tlike chips. I'd MUCH rather use a flash tuner. You have more control over what parameters you decide on. I highly doubt the Jet chip will get you 30 HP..MAYBE at the crank which transelates to about 17 or so at the wheels MAX. More like 12 -15 at the wheels. Wheras the hand helds, with proper tuning can get you over 20 HP to the rear wheels..I have the DiabloSport Preditor tuner, and I like it. I've tweaked my tune as far as I want to without hooking up the Air/fuel meter so I can tweak it even more.

 

do you need to be like an expert on mustangs to properly tune the stang to get the most performance cause im like an ameatuer and i dont wanna screw up my engine. also how long did it take you to install it?

 

The tuner comes with preinstalled tune. It takes like 5 minutes to install it. If you want to tweak it, take the car and the tuner to a race shop and have them do it. But the thing is, YOU can adjust the tune..unlike a chip where it is what it is..no more no less. The SCT tuner comes with 3 preinstalled tunes. If I had it to do over, I'd go with the SCT.

 

ok so you can get around 20 hp with the pre installed modificatins in the diablo? dumb question but what is svt?

 

SVT is Fords Special Vehicle Team. They were responsible for the FordGT and the Cobra, along with the F150 Lightning and other "special" cars.
SCT is another brand of tuner.
