Need tips for my 2.3L
Hi guys, This is my first post here. I have a 84 2.3L mustang, I've put alot of work into this car, all new brake syster, clutch , fresh engine, suspention, ect.. It drives great but I need more HP, I'm thinking of installing a turbo, or maybe a double barrel carb? anyone try anything like this before? how hard would it be, what would I need?
Or should I try going anyother way?? thanks

Hey, I also have a 84 2.3L, and of course I am also looking for more power. Correct me if im wrong, but i beleive if you want a turbo youd have to do an engine swap, and exspect to pay around 800 for that. If anyone could help us that would be awsome. What can we do to get the most bang for our buck? Thanks [sm=smiley20.gif]
actually, to get the turbo to work, all you really need to do is swap the pistons to forged lower compression pistons so they can handle boost, get the oil lines plumbed, and get a turbo with exhaust manifold, and wiring and the such, and if you get it done for $800 you'd be lucky, it costs most people upwards of $1500 and usually they know exactly what they're doing...
actually the stock manifolds are fairly similar to headers, but if you really want one they should be available from either esslinger or racerwalsh, they both have websites that I don't remember off the top of my head...
rangerfredbob is right, stock manifold is similar to a header but aint a header, i go tmy header from pace setter, and u need a pipe bender or other wise an offset exhaust if u put a full exhaust on, cause the header goes down at an angle, i would go with header, its like 10times lighter then the manifold alone, then u add the cats, all i am runnin is my header and a short cherry bomb, no cats no muffler, just header and cherry bomb, sweet sound too.
