Default need massive help

91 ford ranger 2.3 L

Some of you might remeber that i had to take my whole intake system off to clean out oil after i bought the truck. I cleaned it all out and i finally got the time today to put it all back together, but of course theres a problem.

just above the oil filter ( and under the intake maifold ) there is an oval shaped object connected to the block with a black hose coming out of it. When i took the intake off i diddent even see that slide off, or see it at all for that matter! I noticed it when i was putting everything back together. I looked all around and i couldent find where this black hose went..so...i just left it thinking maybe it just hangs there...Big mistake....I started the truck and it went to 3000 rpm right away, check engine light came on, and this hose sprayed oil F***ing everywhere.....So what is this thing?! and where does it go?!?!?

Hmm...I was thinking maybe a sensor but that wouldnt cause ur oil to fly everywhere.....it probably has to do something with oil pressure or somethin because it made your oil spit out and your RPM's jumped up.....but this is my opinion.

Don't feel bad, i parked my 86 2.3 SVO for the winter and when i got it out a few days ago mine is idling about 2500rpm's and sprays oil from an unknown place when the motor is under a load. If i figure it out soon i will share the info.

Is it on the driver side? Near the oil filter?

Anyone else with info?!

Probably part of your PCV system. That hose probably attaches to your Valve cover and is attached to the PCV valve stuck in the cover. If it's spraying oil, the oil deflector (baffle) in the valve cover is probably missing or damaged.

there is no pcv valve in the valve cover and the hose is about 15 inches to short to get to the valve cover...
