heya , im about to buy a 2004 mustang v6 , just wanted to ask about the engine like how different is it from the 3.8? in terms of parts and maintenance etc.....and what things came on the v6 for 2004? i heard reare bumpers and gt hood scoop....

 

No, the 04 came wiht the standard rear bumper and in most cases had the 99 cobra hood (reverse scoop). Also, they started the 3.9 half way through the year. Its the same exact block, just stroked out a little cuz it actually came from the windstar I believe (ford scrapped the 3.8 in prep for the 4.0 in 05). as far as I know, the parts are all the same. Part of me wants to say the lil stroker will respond slightly better to mods, but I dont know if thats true. one of the 6er guys will have to fill u in there.

nope, in stock form I think they have like 3 extra hp and maybe 5 extra torque, but thats close enough to be dyno calibration. for all effective purposes they are the same car (but u still get to act like ur better than the 3.8s )

No dude, that is wrong and I know it. My buddy has a red 04 v6, and it has the cobra hood. they also had a pony package or somethng like that where u could get the GT raised hood scoop (from 03-04) and the extended side scoops. But as far as the cobra hood on 04s, its there, Ive seen it.

Just checked, U were right about the power. But I wasnt sure about that power in the first place. do u guys have a sticky about that in ur v6 section?

 

no, we need one of our mods to clean up the stickies and merge them together somewhat liek the GT section, and add a few
