Default Center Console Light

I have a 2001 Mustang Convertible with a V6. The light that illuminates the center console to see which gear is selected does not currently work. Is there a simple light bulb to replace or is it an LED? What is the easiest way to fix it?

Thank you Guys,

Probably a fuse or a bulb. Go and get a Chilton or Haynes manual. They're like $15 at a local auto parts store. It will tell you step by step how to do simple stuff like that.

My light didn't work either. Try replacing the light bulb. We purchased one at the dealership for under $1 and while there we asked for a diagram on how to take apart the gear shift. Parts can do that for you for free. Good luck!
