K&N INTAKE.... CAN IT DAMAGE THE ENGINE??
I BOUGHT A K&N INTAKE FOR MY 2002 MUSTANG.. ITS A 57 SERIES.... SO I PUT IT ON N TEST DRIVE MY CAR.. I WAS REVING IT TO 5000 RPMS N IT WAS JUST GREAT N LOUD... SO... NEXT DAY I WAKE UP TO GO TO WORK N I TRIED STEPPING ON IT N IT WOULD ONLY LET ME GO UP TO 4000 RPMS N IT WOULD FORCE ME TO SHIFT... I THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL BUT THENTHAT SAME DAY AT NOON I TRIED STEPPING ON IT AGAIN N IT WOULDNT LET ME GO BEYOND 3000 RPMS N IT FORCED ME TO SHIFT.... N SO IT WENT ON TO THE POINT WHERE I COULDNT GO BEYOND 2000 RPMS CUZ THEN IT WOULD START SHAKING... HAVE U EVER SEEN ANYONE LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE STICK?? WELL THATS HOW IT WAS... IT WOULD HIT 2000 RPMS N IT WOULD START SHAKING LIKE CRAZY.. I THINK ITS BAD AIR COMPRESSION OR SOMETHING CUZ IT BRUNT A SENSOR THAT IS BEFORE THE EGR.. I THINK IT MEASSURES PRESSURE CUZ IT HAD TO LIL PIPES.. ONE HAD VAPOR COMING OUT N THEN THE OTHER ONE HAD AIR GOING BACK IT.... CAN ANYONE HELP ME??? WAS IT THE INTAKE OR SOMETHING ELSE???
One thing about the FIPK is watch the heat sheild dosn't rub on the AC lines when the engine is running... I have a V-6 and it happened and it also happened on my 4.6... dosn't metter for me anyways, I never run it
YEAH I HAVE A A FIPK 2 IN MY V6, 5 SPEED.... BUT MY ? WAS IF THE INTAKE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE MESS UP OR WAS IT SOMETHING ELSE??? RIGHT NOW ITS AT THE DEALER... I STILL HAVE THE WARRANTY SO... YEAH..
i have no idea whats up w/ the engine, but you could try checkin the vacum line that goes into the intake and make sure you have all of the lines hooked up around the engine bay...you could have knocked somethin loose when you put in ur intake. and all caps arent relly necessary dude...
I'll tell you exactly what the problem is because it happened to me on my 03 V6. You have an intake leak AFTER your MAF and before the throttle body. It obviously started small and is getting worse, but it's not enough of a leak to kill your engine yet, but it will. When the leak is bad enough, your engine will die and you won't get it started untill you fix the intake leak.
By the way, you said the first day you were shifting at 5K, so you must have a chip, right?

lol.. sorry its cuz i like writting in caps... but i double checked everything n everything was hooked up right.... so... first of all why did the leak start??? yeah i was shifting at 5k.... n yeah of corse i have a chip... or u mean like a better chip???
No, I just meant have you changed your limiters.
But as far as the leak I'm talking about. It could even be in one of the hoses that connect to your intake.
First, clean the MAF wire, because if it's dirty, it will read false. Try not to touch it with your fingers, so spray it with electrical cleaner, or wipe it with a clean rag with windex soaked on the rag. If you do that and you're possitive that you have no leaks, then try putting your stock intake back on and see if it fixes it.

u know what... i took it to the dealership cuz i just couldnt find it so they called me n told me that 3 cylinders were not working n thats why i had bad air compression... so they said it could cost at least 2 grands.. i was like wtf!!!!??? n i asked what coulda been the reason n they said either i didnt do the oil change or over reving it.... :/ n i'm pretty sure it was cuz of the over reving it... i'm always racing n shift n 5k rpms.... god damn it turned out not to be fun anymore...
