Why might I ask? Because I'm in economics 2010 right now, and I have a B.
Because I couldn't understand your dribble about economics.....and I'm taking an econ class right now too.

Stop writing such long posts trying to sound smart. I don't think he actually wanted to know why mods are expensive. I think this thread was intended for him to vent, and his expected responses were "Yea...it does suck doesn't it" Not....a book.

Well I'm not trying to sound smart, I'm just answering his question. Hell economics is so freaking easy that I think I explained it decently enough to understand.

but you have a way of "making a short story long", not to mention you make points that have little to nothing to do with the topic at hand

Ok, so I like to exaggerate on some things, ya know, I didn't want this to blow over all of those dee de dees out there. Also, it's hard to explain this stuff without pictures, if I had pictures showing the relationship of price, supply, and demand, I could of made my point in one or two sentences.

Thats not the point. Its unecessary to explain economics in this thread.....everyone has a general knowledge of that.

You would have been better off responding to this thread:

"Yea....mods are expensive, it sucks.....save your pennies "

Nobody is taking into consideration the old Chevy 350. Ponder that one. Its prices are almost always lower than that of a Ford engine. They're not cheaper because they're less of a risk. Like Tbird232 said, the longer somethings been around, the cheaper it gets. And whats the 350 have? Twenty something differant variations of the same engine? Its been around for decades!
while it may have alot of variations, the smal block chebby will interchange most parts across each engine

take for instance the 307 chebby
283 bore with a 327 large journal crank and uses any SB head out there as well as cam/valvetrain and headgaskets

302 SBC 350 bore and 283 stroke except in the newer large journal. it can be made into a 327 LJ or 350 with crank and piston swap. and if anybody wanted to make one you could take a 307 block and a 302 crank and make a large journal 283 which chebby never made factory

the SBC could be called the forst modular engine in a sense. also it was an instant hit making more power than the ford flathead which was king at the time out of a similar weight engine

all in all the 3.8 essex is pretty cheap to build and really about the same as a 5.0 or only a couple hundred dollars more. actually the 3.8 give probably the best HP/dollar gain of any ford engine

or the simple way to put things would be there will always be people like all of us who...even if we dont have the money...will spend whatever we can to make our cars look good and be fast. if someone can make money off of ppl like us they will. that goes for every type of car out there.

All right, johnbeast, I'll say this and I'll let this thread die. Of course some people on here have a general understanding of the economy and how it works, but look at it like this, he wouldn't of asked the question if he would of already know the answer. Hell, if anything, I made this post a little more worthwhile, because a question like that, with answers like that, would of started another ***** a thon and no worthwhile info would of been produced in this thread, and it would of been moved or locked.
