Default porting the intake

hey i just got my bbk 65mm throttle body and was wondering how i go about porting the intake to match. ie. what tools do i need and watch do i have to do. my guess would be to take the intake manifold off but i figured that i would ask before doing.

youll need a gasket for the new tb, to put it on the intake, mark how much material you need to take off, get a drill or dremel with proper bits and abrasives, and work slow. that's pretty much the general idea of it. the manifold will need to be taken off to prevent metal shavings from going in the engine

thanks. i figured that the manifold needed to be taken off but wasnt sure of what the manifold was made of and what would be needed to shave it away.

thanks again

When did you order that? Coulda asked me man, you could use a dremel but itll take forever if you gotta keep swapping batteries, we could just use that electric drill (the one we used on my pipes, not the cordless one) with some extensions and some grinding wheels.

i was thinking about getting a BBTB for my tib too, we could port our manifolds while we are having our clutch fest lol.

Youd wanna polish it too while were at it right?

truer words have not been spoken, the right bits make all the difference with porting. i have a cylinder head, a tb, and 2 sets of intakes that i work on more as a way to pass time and learn about porting than to actually use them later, and ive tried numerous bits. you have to get ones made for the materials you'll be working on or you're wasting time and effort pretty much. btw you probably shoulda got a corded dremel. the one i have is a craftsman that i got for too much money (i think 75 bones on sale) and came with all sorts of stuff, but it kicks ***. dont forget to get one with variable speeds because with aluminum (like i assume your intake is made of), you don't need to use too many rpms to port it
