just because it has the same bore and stroke doesnt make it the same engine, that would be like saying chevy has had there small block the same for 50 years, which has the same bore, but thats aboot it

No. Thats not my only reasoning. Every year CC has a interesting facts/trivia/who gives a sh*t episode where they talk about interesting little tidbits regarding certain cars, companies, etc. One of the segments was on how the 281 was derived from an Essex block with two extra cylinders grafted onto it and then had a lot of refinements done as well. Then they went into a bunch of mustang stuffs, buit anyways. The displacement numbers just support that<. Am I clear now in what I was trying to say?

then why are essex 3.8 blocks stronger than 4.6 modular blocks?
