cold-air-induction and maf
I have a 2001 3.8l and have been looking at intake kits. What is the biggest bang for the buck. I have been looking at bbk and C&L. Also what is the difference between and cold air intake kit and a MAF? C&L has Performance Mass Airflow Package how is this different then a cold air intake kit- what are the advantages and disadvantages? I was also looking at rpmoutlet.com and found a MOTOBLUE HI-FLOW Intake Packages including a BBK 65mm Throttle Body, Motorvator Throttle body spacer and BBK Cold-Air Intake for $430. does anyone know anything about this package?
In my opinion brand doesnt really matter on an intake. They're all the same to me. Most people will say K&N, BBK, and MAC are the best out there, but I spent half as much money on an ebay CAI, and got about the same performance. It all depends on what kind of quality you want in your car.
MAF is the mass are flow sensor, which is connected to the intake. It's on the stock intake. You reuse it if you get a new intake.
As for the throttle body, I have no idea how much more HP they add. If I were you, I would just get the intake.

i'm also looking into intake options for my V6...the "MOTOBLUE HI-FLOW Intake Packages including a BBK 65mm Throttle Body, Motorvator Throttle body spacer and BBK Cold-Air Intake" boasts a 28HP gain. there isn't a cold air intake on the market that provide that kind of boost.
are you saying that the throttle body and spacer won't make a difference at all? if so then i need to know what kind of cold air intake you're using.

tb and spacer doesn't do JACK $hit unless you have heavy mods like a blower. Stock engines its a waste of money bc you are flowing into stock intakes. Its like getting a straw and blowing through it as stock...then you get it fatter straw and it goes into a skinnier straw. No matter how hard you blow the flow will still be the same bc the rest of the engine is still the small straw
