Default Computer problem?

Hey all,

First post here to the forum... looks like a great, active place. I have a 99 convertible, and just went to put the top down yesterday (finally warm enough here again!), and it didn't work. Nothing happened. Any ideas what could be wrong? Last year, cruise control stopped working, too... I'm thinking it's a problem with the computer, but I'm not that good with car stuff, to be quite honest. Another thing that I noticed is that the odometer goes blank for a couple minutes every once and a while when I'm just driving around...

Any help or ideas would be apprecitated.

Thanks,
Tim L. Walker

Really? So when I take it in, is that what I should tell them I think it is? I just don't want to pay $1000 for something that can be fixed for $50, ya know?

why not check the fuses yourself? that way it won't be $1000 or even $50... it'll be like 50€

its not hard at all
just find your fusebox
and check pull out each fuse one by one replacing the other
just look for any black spots or disconnected wires and if none put it back in the same spot
if there is one
go to wal-mart and pick up a box of fuses for like 3 buxx

under driver side dash... far left... it's behind a small black cover... pull the cover off... beforehand go to walmart and get what are called mini fuses... get a variety box set for like $10 and then go after each fuse like you'd check the capacitors on a circuit board... one by one till you find one that is blown.
