posi + gears = THE WIN!
yo guys. purchasing option B from here http://rpmoutlet.com/newv6m.htm the posi-trac and i think im getting the 3.73 gears. im pretty vehicle-savvy so i feel comfortable installing it myself. anybody had any experience with this???
Gears aren't hard to install, but installing and shimming them correctly is the key to a good install. You don't get a second chance, they will be damaged immediatly if they aren't installed correctly. I'm a good mechanic, but I had my friend that owns a tranny shop install mine. He's been doing it for about 25 years.
Note the yellow paint in the pics. This is done a half dozen times to test and adjust the tolerances. Then after the first test drive with a break in fluid, it's taken apart again and re-adjusted.

1.) do NOT install them yourself
2.) stop listening to people with no gear experience

2 yes he is right, do not listen to him, just dont go anything below that because its just a total waste. also remember to buy a name brand(royal purples great) to use in your rear end. and friction moddifier
Remeber to read up on it first because it can be hard if you dont, but will make a difference.
Also, don't buy used gears off of ebay. Most of them are spanked and that's why they are selling them. Spend the 200 bux and get new Ford Gears, you won't be sorry.
ah geez. didnt know about all the alligning crap. know of any good articles that would explain how to do it??? maybe i would be better off paying 300 bucks for someone else to do it

You would be much better off letting someone else do it. It's great and all to read up and learn and try stuff on your own but be realistic about your own skill level. Trying you first gear swap on what I'm guessing is you daily driver is not a wise decision.
