Default Which has better performance?

I was wondering which would get better performance
A 1995 mustang with a 99 v6 engine
or
A 1999 mustang v6
I was wondering this because of weight differences and transmissions.

It's not worth it to put a 99 V6 in a 95. It will probably be a little faster but not much. They don't weigh all that much different.

Ummmmmmmm...................the 99 by like a mile. 95 V6 - 145 hp ->= 110-120 rwhp, depends on auto or manual tranny, 99 V6 - 190 hp ->= 150-160 rwhp, tranny type pending.

Reread his question.

The main difference between the two was sheetmetal, so I don't think there is going to be a noticable change in performance if using the same engine.

Actually, there would be a huge difference, "IF" he does just an intake swap, the entire engine isn't neccessary unless his old ones fried, but a 99-04 set up, or intake swap, alone, will net you another 40 rwhp, and providing you use the same cam, you would actually net 42-44 hp as our cam is actually slightly more aggressive than the 99-04 cam, do a cam swap along with this mod then you could net up to70 or so rwhp, although 55-60 is a little more reasonable, get those heads and intake polished with an inlarged throttle body, then 200 rwhp isn't out of the question.

ya thats work, if you were to have both stock with the same tranny, it would be close, 94-98s are lighter but they have 2.73 gears

94-98 V6 is a turd. the 99-04 V6 isnt all that bad. With a few mods they can be pretty quick. My buddy has an 03' V6 auto with my stock pipes and he took a few Camaro V6's which are supposedly faster

Camaro and stang(both 6ers) is a drivers race. and isnt it only the 96 cam which was a tad more agressive

So. 200rwhp W/ JUST, split port swap, larger throttle body and a head polish? I think not. The TB wouldn't do a dam thing without getting the intake ported to match the new diameter. Also, what cam are we talking aboot here? The SN95 3.8 cam? Or an aftermarket cam? If SN95 cam, not worth the trouble of swapping out cams for the 5-10 HP you'd get. Even then, I'm pretty sure BPD is right about the "slightly"(and I use this term with extreme prejudice, there isn't hardly any difference) more aggressive cam being used in the "96 3.8 only. I lurve ya Jthorn, but I gots to do it......[sm=bs.gif] [8D]

a 3800 camaro should be a drivers race with an NPI GT
