4.10 gear questions??
I am thinking of putting some 4.10 gears into my mustang and I have heard some positives and negatives. Does anyone have any advice on putting them in to replace the 3.83's or whatever is stock? Also, if you do have advice, what drops have you seen in mileage? Is it worth the extra pickup for the price of gas or not?

you'll get 1-2mpg drop. don't even think about installing them yourself.

I would have them installed by a professional. I won't put them in myself, but I just wanted to know if they are worth the money for the performance.
So, I will only lose 1-3 miles per gallon if I have those 4.10 gears put in?
How impressive is the performance boost?

Remember, gears also need some hp for support, 4.10s on an sn edge, I'd probably go no other way, but if you own a 94-98, I would consider 3.73s, because the amount of engine strain they produce on an engine that doesn't produce that much hp can, and has with some owners on here, Cobra is one of them, will kill your mpg, noticibly. Remember 3.27s - 4.10s on a 99-04 is basically the same as 2.73s to 3.73s, big difference both ways, but I wouldn't go to like 4.56 or something on a 99-04, yes that's the equivilent difference of a 94-98 going to 4.10s, because the 99-04s will not produce enough hp to really carry them. One more thing, if you don't race, and I mean at the track, but you're looking for a decent difference that won't hurt your mpg too bad, then get 3.73s, but if you're looking for some noticible gains and can afford any wasted gas, yes you will waste more, then go with 4.10s, but as far as I'm concerned, if you don't race, then why blow your money on somthing you won't use.

Yea that to, but remember who suggested 3.73s to me, and guess what I got.
