just a correction for ya man

none of the rangers came with T5s, yours would have the mazda m5od1 i believe, which may or may not handle abuse, mine held together in my 300ish hp turbo ranger for a year or two but i have the T5 swap now

but my 150hp 90 2.9 V6 trashed every mazda and mitsu tranny it ever had till i sold it, go figure

for the money i would defineately reccomend the turbo swap

for the gear ratios/door code chart, there is one on www.therangerstation.com

any 2.3T ranger questions could be answered here http://www.rangerpowersports.com/for...splay.php?f=51

Would I be able to buy an ECU from a 1987 Tbird Turbo Coupe, and get a VAM/exhaust manifold/turbo and wire it all into the new ECU, and still retain my original wiring harness? I found an ECU for sale on the internet, from a 5-spd Turbo Coupe, and I was considering buying both the ECU and a VAM/Airbox combo, and trying to make it all work. If this would work, I think I will go ahead and attempt to purchase the ECU, if it is not already sold.

I called my local junk yards, seeing if there were any turbo 2.3's around, needing to be rebuilt or not... there were not even any N/A 2.3's around... and this junkyard has an upscale of almost 800 cars... plus extra's lying around. I was very disappointed... I usually have good luck with them, when it comes to business for small block stuff, but, they let me down :-\.

Thanks for reading again, James.

I also scoured the internet, and found a 'IHI tbird turbo kit' that came from an 88 turbo... The turbo appears to be the stock one... it is included with upper/lower manifolds, exhaust manifold, and the turbo itself... It only lacks the VAM, and i guess oiling lines... It has about 90k miles on it, and was shelved for a while. the exhaust manifold looks, uhmm 'unique' to me? I am including a picture of it... Does it appear to be a right side exhaust, that will work proper? If so, I can possibly by the whole setup for about 80 dollars, and another 50 on the ECU, leaving a VAM and a VAM wiring harnes... which means 35 dollars to forced4 racing for a vam wiring harness, and scouring for a VAM. I may be able to buy a VAM/Intercooler combo from a late 80's turbo coupe as well, for about 40 dollars... If so, would this be worth while to do, and save it back for my rebuild, then deckflaten the block/head, drill it, bore it, and make sure to get forged pistons? I think this sounds like a good deal, plus time to save money back to get it all done. If this sounds good to you guys, do you also think I will have to upgrade rearend/trans? I have the stock 5spd trans... someone said it was a pos mazda trans... I also have the 7.5 open 3.45 gears in the back.

Thanks for reading again, James.
