We have Vettes, Vipers, and such with up to 20' and Miata's and 300zx's with 17 and 18" wheels, so I think you will be ok. Try it. Ask questions of the ppl you race with. It is a competitive sport, but 99.99999% of the racers will be more than happy to help you with advice and tips.

That's all you need to do to race. Sign up and have a DOT 2000 or later helmet.
Sportlines are ok, but I prefered the Roush springs. Also, subframe connectors will help a LOT!!
I would highly recommend getting a strut brace also. With all the twisting and turning, the body tends to flex and twist.

Well i went to the local autocross today and i gotta say im hooked, i would love to join and go out their every once in a while. What are the actual requirements (as far as registering goes) ive checked through the rules and all that, but what, i just need an approved helmet and sign some papers and im good to go, or is their more to it then that? Also about how much would an install of something like sportlines or the pro-kit springs cost?

I just got my first Mustang--a 2006 Pony Edition
My Pony Edition has the new 4.0 V6, 17" Bullitt Wheels with Pirelli PZero Neros, Traction control and the adaptive automatic.
From what I've read so far, sub-frame connectors and tower strut braces, lowering springs (Eibach?) and shocks, and modified intakes and exhaust are pretty much expected additions for this type of activity.
I'm wondering if the newer V6 is substantially better than the 3.8 as discussed here. Most have said that the 3.8 isn't enough engine for this or that. How much better is the 4.0? Should I look to put a tunable CAI on the car? or can I keep my warranty and run it without the intake mod?
