Default 2.3 Help.

Ok, I got a question, what can I do with a 2.3 to get more performance out of it? I have only changed the gear ratio to 3.73. Other then that I've just been restoring its appearance. I would like to keep with a 2.3 cause it keeps my insurance lower, any help would be greatly appreciated/

port and polish the head, long tube header(least important), and a cam. unless you go turbo or something, that's about all you can do, unless you find a 2.5L ranger engine somewhere then swap the pistons, crank and rods in and that should help

I knew someone would post something about putting in a 8 cyc. If I did my insurance would increase to $810 every 6 months, and on a school budget, thats little too high.

nething that u can swap on your engine for lighter parts go for it, except stay away from alum heads (crack real easy). ya if your serious bout this get the header last. and as for what kind, they only got one and it took a parts store 45 minutes to find me mine. pace setter header 2300cc, dats how it would read in their books. i used to have parts number for it. u know u could swap in the 302 or 351w and not tell the insurance company but then if u get in an accident, they wouldn't cover the engine and stuff u swapped

hey how did the gear swap help it out ne? was it worth money time and effort?

Hey man, I dont what to sound like I am knock'in youre 4 banger stang, Their isnt much hype you can do with but it only does what it can, If you want so crazy power you would be better off getting V6 to V8, The V8 has tons of options of power add-ons, Like I say its a free world for you to do what you want, Enjoy making mods for you stang.

forgot about NOS, oh ya by the way, i believe Duo was askin for help on the 2.3L engine. stroker kit maybe. 75 shot dry kit NOS. that would keep up with v6stangs. and don't tell me it wouldn't cause it could and can. cause if it added the full 75hp like it was made too, that would put us 4bangers at around 150hp. thats what 40 less then the newer v6 stangs, think about it, less weighin 4banger. the ford repair book has the 88 stang rated at supposedly 89hp off the tranny. i know noticed quit a bit of umph when i added my header and a rigged up CAI. but saddely i got no umph now, i can barely pass 60mph before my car cuts out

i agree do a v8 swap and dont tell ur insurance company! your car is pretty old and anything that would need to be fixed they wouldnt give you enough for, neway they would probably total the car cuz its not worth much so just do a swap and enjoy!!!!
