Default What pipes to get?

Quick question or two, looking for suggestions and advice. I'm about to get dual exhaust put on my 2006 V6. I have Flowmaster American Thunder mufflers ready to go, I just don't know what route to go with the pipes. Should I go true duals, x-pipes, or h-pipes? Also, what, if anything, will this do for or against my mileage (I do a lot of highway driving)? Thanks

So I don't sound like a complete idiot (although this will be hard), what I'm wondering is what's better and why: straight pipes, x-pipes, or h-pipes, and what effect will changing over to a dual exhaust have on my mileage?

u can use those flows u have and get an x-pipe, better on the V6(not sure y, i was told but dont remember). Also. if u can, take off ur cats, if u have to have them to pass inspection, then get high-flow cats. Also new headders wouldnt hurt either, but the sound will differ with the setup.

True duals are the best as the least amount of bends are required, which means less restriction and better sound and power. always good.

in between a x and a h pipe is always a debate so i dont know.

dual exhaust will actually increase your mileage by a little but as the air flows freer and lowers the pressures on the hoses and the engine internals. also increases the car life that way

yes, but not enough back preasure will make you loose power

Here's a reality check. Unlike the V8's, the V6 doesn't NEED a crossover at all. The 3.8 is an even fireing engine, wheras the V8's are not. So back pressure is already equal. Now as far as sound goes, X-Pipe sounds better to me.

Finally....Someone that knows.. An h-pipe would be useless to you because the car is even fire.. So you can either go with true-duals, or get an x-pipe if you so choose... If a shop was doing it, I'm sure just going straight pipes would be cheaper.

Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it. So, tell me if this is the gist of what's being said....

Straight pipes would be just fine and cheaper, otherwise go with x-pipes
Consider new headers
The Flowmasters should be sufficient

Like I said, thanks a lot. I'm still new to all this, I just want to make the best of my investment and my V6. I plan on having it for some time.
