Default Just Got A Mustang

Hi im new to the forums and all i just got a 95' 3.8L Mustang. I was wondering what some cheap and quick horsepower upgrades i could do i was looking into the flowmaster mufflers that say they give you 10-20 more horse power and then into the cold air intakes that give 10-15 are there any other cheap upgrades or a bit more expensive i could do to the car?
Thanks
Logan

Exhaust won't give you much more than 5-7HP, and CAI 3-5. Add underdrive pulleys for another 5-8. But the best bang for the buck is GEARS and a T-Lok. No added HP, but they will put the power to the pavement quicker.

Thats a sales trick, the hp is what they will produce in the engine, but at the wheel is a way diiferent story, u can go with them, but ull need gears and a detroit true lock

Not necessarily, a t-lok will be just fine unless he starts goin for big hp.

any of those, or for moderately more you can get a good set of heads from supersixmotorsports.com, or you could swap out a thunderbird supercoupe supercharger, or you could do a 4.2 stroker kit

Yes it is a sales trick, but those ratings are real ratings, but not on your car, like they say you'll net 30 rwhp, but that just means that's the best dyno they've ever gotten off of a car, generally their off of supercharged cars like the Mustang Cobra that has a pretty restrictive stock intake. A 95 sixer will get 2-3 rwhp from a cai, probably around 3-5 for exhaust, another 5 or less for the pulleys, and if you can affor the PMS tuner, which is the only one I know of for 95 and earlier stangs, you'll net around 3-5 hp with that. Truth is, the 94-98 V6s are very hard to get any decent power out of them without going supercharged or doing an intake swap. I say put some basic bolt ons on the car, and keep it until you can afford a GT or a new V6. FYI, the insurence on a 95 GT or earlier is actually way cheaper than insurence on a 96 sixer, and is just a hair bit more expensive than your 95, but liability is the same for the two, they also get the same damn mpg, so don't let the myth fool you. Not telling you by any means to get a GT, but I will say that unless you can afford it, don't dump loads and loads of money, like I did with my 98 sixer, on a car that you may not have for very long. The most expensive thing I would do would be to drop some 3.73s in the car, don't go with 4.10s, the early sn95s have a hard time supporting those large gears with their low hp output.

t-loks suck. get a detroit or auburn posi. unless you are going to upgrade to an 8.8.

Velcome, I would do gears (and a handheld tuner that's necessary to recalibrate for the different gears) first. And a drop in high-flow filter if you don't want to spend about 150 or so on a full cold air intake (go MAC or K&N). Then get an exhaust setup, personally, just go to a shop and have them make you one. It will be A LOT cheaper than ordering one that "fits" your car from online. You should look at rpmoutlet.com or mustangtuning.com, they have a nice selection of parts. Also check out autobadges.com if you want some cool visual dress-ups, or even an intake, for your car.

I was thinking of having the engine rebuilt and i heard i could upgrade the parts in the engine to get more hp (not a car person yet) But i looked around and i couldnt even find a supercharger for just a v6 i could only find them for the GT and cobras. I was looking at the flowmaster exhaust and it says it makes the engine sound like the v8.
Hmmm Thinking
