and unless you go over 350 HP then you dont need an upgrade, biggest reason to upgrade is for 31 spline axles, but gears and a t-lok or detroit true trac will be fine
The 7.5 is a pretty weak axle, in my opinion. My 85 came with one from the factory, my friend and I rebuilt it using a detroit locker and a 3.55. It blew up on me, left me stranded. And as far as I know the 8.8 axle will fit 1979-present mustangs. You shouldnt have any problems with your v-6 and that axle. Id say go with someting different than a detroit locker back there, theyre not very street frindly, they feel very ......notchy. About the best way I can describe it. Maybe an auburn locker would be better.

8.8 will fit, but I can tell you from EXPERIENCE, 4.10's will not get eaten up by 7.5 dif. He's an idiot who I wouldn't let do an oil change on my car. Call the shop owner and tell him what he said to you. Sometimes the shop owner does know more, but either way, find another shop.

OK so i walk in this shop were they do differential upgrades so i can get an estimate for my t-lok 7.5 and my rear gears 4.10 intallation on my v6 2K AUTO
im talking to the head mechanic and hey tells me he cant install those parts because that differantia
will eat my gears or something like that. He says qoute " I know mustang ive been working on them since the 60's your best bet
is getting a 8.8 from the junkyard, its one of the best differential ford has ever made besides the 9.0"
I was going to burn him right there but im not the saviest car dude, all i know is that the 8.8 differential wont fit my V6. Should i go back and
emberase this ACE (i think thats what it is) certified mechanic ??
