Buying my first used 1998 MUSTANG. Need help!
My 98 got about 16 mpg city, and around 27 mpg (with a nice deal of mods) hwy, but stock it got around 24-25. Oh, the story that GTs get worse mpg than V6s is BS, my GT gets better mpg in the city than the sixer did, and is so far averaging roughly the same to a little better on the hwy to and from work. Oh my insurence is also $125 cheaper with the 95 GT than the 98 V6 was. Just thought I'd fill you in on that.
im 38...
my honda civic was stolen last week. nice car. 40mpg. I was so mad i was punching the walls! $6800 car gone! I had basic insurance because it was paid off and older (1998 honda civic). So I didnt have theft insurance. If i catch the guy who stole my car he will regret it if I find him. I know the honda was a chick car. But it saved me over 10k in cash. Now my finances are ruined!!! I want to get that son of a bitch! However i have a little money left over and I want something more masculine. I have been looking at mustangs more and more and like them. But are they are as reliable as a honda or toyota?? I did look at a camry today and it was a piece of junk----I could smell oil burning and oil was caked all over the engine. The seller told me "it doesnt matter toyota camrys last forever." Not when the engine blows dumbass.
So anyway i found this girl who has this real nice 98 black mustang coupe. I love it. I ran a carfax report. It has been serviced once. Dont know what for. Anyway, she wants $4,000 for it. It has 118k on it. Car could last to 150k before something breaks.
I hate buying used cars because there are too many lazy-*** people not taking care of their cars and they all look like chit and the engines are not well maintained. People just dont care about their cars and then when they sell they ask top dollar for their junky car. Ripoffs! Then lying to me and saying "it has been driven real easy and the car wil last forever." BS!
I always took care of my cars like a baby because it saved me money and it helps the car hold its value and I always made sure the person was getting a good HONEST deal. Respectful deal. I provided with oil change receipts and regular maneintence receipts and always told them how it was driven. HONESTY.
I want a decent reliable car with good miles and i want oil receipts and maintence receipts then i will give them what the car is worth. I want an honest deal.

well it depends on if u want something reliable or fast. if you want something reliable, 98 mustangs are pretty good. however, the mileage is kinda high on that, but if that doesnt bother you and you dont care about going fast, go for it!
but if your looking for a speed demon, the 98 v6 isnt remotely close to a "fast" car. even the GT's of that year arent all that fast. you may wanna look elsewhere if your looking for a quick car.

Dude, as long as you maintain that engine, it could last you up to or over 300K miles, 118 is just a drop in the bucket. Mustangs, despite the ricer joke of calling the rustangs, are extremely reliable, but that's as long as you maintain them. The only thing you'll have to worry about going out would be the normal stuff, like on any car, such as the battery, A/C compressor, starter, radiator, water pump, fuel pump, etc, but those things going out are a rarity, but do happen. Now 98 mustang V6s, especially autos, are slow as hell, so don't be expecting to win many races, but if you're just looking to get from point a to point b in style, then it will do the job.
that car is worth maybe and i mean maybe 3200 bucks. think about it. its a 98 8 years old and is probably riding the stock struts/shocks. i wouldnt spend more than 2800 on a 98 sixxer. patience is the key to a good buy
The bitch who owns the 98 mustang listed her car for sale at $5,000 "saying its a beautiful car," I offered her $3,700---then she feels insulted and counteroffers with $4,000, then she says "Im giving her the runaround because she had the car was inspected by her uncle"----and then raises her price to $4,700. Who is giving who the runaround??
Its funny how salespeople and owners will try to entice you with the "exterior beauty"of the car....but when you start talking about the engine and the price of their car-----they get freaked out. This shows you that image sells, not the inner components.
I would rather drive a very reliable honda civic than drive a "broken down" lamborghini anyday.

i got 3000 for my 98 v6 on a trade-in 2 years ago and it had 90k miles on it. unfortunately, that 5k is about what the bluebook is for private party sale. 4700 is cheaper than you'd pay if you were to try and get it from a stealership. come back with 4500. how many miles are on it? i don't feel like looking at page 1

mustangs are pretty reliable. they can be as good as a civic as long as its taken cared of. mine has like 151K miles on it right now and still going perfectly fine. ive seen people over at 3.8mustang getting over 300K miles out of their cars and without a problem, so if you maintain it well it will last. but like i said, buying a car with that many miles....you never know how the first owner drove it, even if the 2nd owner took well care of it. so its a risk
I tell you what the seller is a hot girl and I wouldnt mind throwing in another $25 just to whip out my "stang" and bang her over the hood. She has creamy white long legs, a face like Angelie Jolie, and an *** that wont quit. Yowza!
