I also would like this question answered. Not by someone though that will say "Just swap to the 5.0L" That gets old, believe me. I am about to go to collage, meaning I can't afford the $1500-2500 (Canadian) to properly swap to the 5........BUT I can afford a few hundred to put abit of...pep into my horses stride.

So an honest answer to THE QUESTION would be greatly appretiated.

cam and port and polish are the easiest and cheapest ones that will give you the best bang for the buck...

maybe even some gears, don't know how they'd act in a 2.3. You could always start putting together a turbo or just save up your money. There's not a ton to do for the 2.3's that are really gonna do anything. You could always build a cold air intake.

What I have on mine right know is a K&N Cold Air Intake and a Flowmaster muffler. I was researching for a turbo. I noticed the 2.3 Turbo Charged T-Birds are basicly the same engine as mine but mine has 8 spark plugs with no distributar. Can I add the stock turbo of a t-bird without having to add new piston rods and the whole nine yards??? Just the Turbo, and the exauhst Header that supports the turbo?? This is my first mustang.

ya u should be able to driftangle45, but i believe people have said run no more than 5lbs of boost to be safe on stock cast internals. and i heard some one on here put in a 3.73 gear into their 2.3 stang and woke it up on da starts. i have a K&N CAI and a header on my 2.3, just let me tell ya that the header did more for my car than the CAI did.

if your serious bout gettin the horse to drift on dry pavement, then save up for a turbo. cause i believe u can't have a header on a turbo setup cause it doesn't have enough backpressure or sumtin. but ne ways i ordered the header thru Jockos, PaceSetter header, wast bout $160. i used to be able to drift on dry pavement, when i had a bald RR tire

the header won't work with a turbo, because the turbo mounts on the header, so you need a special header/manifold for the turbo.

there's a lot more info on turbo swaps at therangerstation.com you're welcome to register and ask any questions on the forums there too, the guys running turbo's there know what they're talking about. he's right about the 5psi limit though, the stock compression is too high and the pistons are too fragile if you run much more than that on them. if you're thinking about going turbo, don't bother with a lot of the NA mods, I hear port and polish doesn't really help with turbo's as much, don't remember the reasoning though...

yeah, gears are a good idea too, don't know what's stock on yours, but if it's anything higher(lower numerically) than 3.45 then gears would probably be a good idea, my truck has 3.45's and 25" tires and I think it does pretty good on acceleration, 3.73's would be better but I'm used to the way it is now, and I'm cheap...
