Default 02 vs. 97

Hey guys, sorry I have to post another one of these, but I swear it's my last one [for a while]. My friend has a 1997 Camaro RS and says he could stomp me. His car is an auto with no mods at all. Mines an auto with just an exhaust currently. Who wins out of this battle?

-Sorry for posting a second car vs. car thread, he wants to race me for money and I want to know who has the edge. My friends say my car is faster, his friends say his car is faster, and mutual friends say they are about dead even ... I want an honest, educated, mechanical opinion.

I think you'll take him. He has a few more ponies, but you are lighter.

He'll beat ya, because Camaro autos don't have quite as bad auto lag as Fords do.

So it's basically 50-50, not what I wanted to hear! Is there anything I can do to get a few more horses out of my car for cheap, like will the CAI I'll be ordering soon affect the race at all?

I doubt it would be a visible difference. 4-5 HP isn't going to make much of a difference.
