Default Subs

I debated with myself over this, but decided to post it in the V6 forum because it is related to my V6 stang ... Kinda want you're input.

Right now I have one Bazooka tube, but my friend that owns his own sound company (Very small company) can hook me up with 2 12" Audiobahns for 80$ a peice ($160) + custom ported box ($100) + amp for subs ($200) + amp for highs ($200)

So the total would be $660. Should I jump on it or no?

I tend to stay away from Audiobahn. People say theyre OK, people say they suck. I say you can do better for your money.

Heres my setup.

2 12" Rockford Fosgate Subs in Subzero box ($120 shipped, used)
1 Rockford Fosgate 900W 1 channel amp for sub ($220 new)
1 Rockford Fosgate 450W 4 cannel amp for speakers ($230 new)
4 Rockford Fosgate 6.5" speakers (250 new)

Thats 820, and my system is LOUD. I dont have any problem with used parts, and you can save a lot of money with them. But for $660, you could set up a killer system with much higher quality than Audiobahn (in my opinion).

Yea, they are only middle of the pack Audiobahns that are supposed to hit hard though. It'll be a custom ported box, with 2 Audiobahn 12's, an audiobahn sub for the subs, sub for the speakers ...

It's not a bad deal, but I need to know how they sound first. He said hte only thing he can't ge tme a deal on is JL ... So I might try and talk to him about RF ... I have an RF amp for my bazooka and it's not bad at all ... Then agan, a bazooka is no true sub!

i like the jl stuff i got a jl dub one and im pushing way more than i should thru it and it sound good, the JBL bp600 mono amps are great if u can find one on ebay or sumplace they put out a true 600rms at 4ohms and a true 1200 at 2 ohms and they are stable at 2ohms,so u run 2 12" single voice coil subs in parralell with that amp and u can push 1200rms u dont need more than that, that amp goes for like 250, they will burn up cheap subs as i learned the hard way so if you go with a jbl bp600 get subs rated at least 600rms or more, the amp will split the 1200 on 2 subs at 600 but its not good cus its at the subs limit

Whats with base. The only people who have base down here are those guys driving their POS 94 impalas with a custom paint job painted over the rust and some 50 inch rims that touch the inside fender when then turn. Honda civics/accords usually pimp it out with the base. Other than that thats about it.

Bass is an extremely essential part of the music. Next time you'r in your car, put in your favorite cd and turn the bass all the way down. The part that most people dont do, is equalize their ranges properly. Then you get those "guys driving their POS 94 impala and 50' rims"

I had some audiobahns for a while, they were not too bad....for the price and him being your buddy, id go for it, but personally that would be too much bass for me, i got out of my "get jiggy wit it" stage back in high school, so now i just have 1 10" alpine type r sub and even that one stills puts out a lil too much bass for me
