Weight
Well it all depends on what you consider a boatload of money.
Get fiberglass hood, decklid.
Remove the factory moulded spoiler, spare tire/jack.
Get an aluminum rad
Remove your Air Conditioning system.
Take out the back seats and seatbelts.
Replace your seats with lightweight racing seats.
Take out your sterio system.
Now, most of that you wont want to do, but that is one way to drop ALOT of pounds.

Lightweight 17" rims, only weigh approx 22lbs vs 35lbs stock
Corbeau, or equivilent, racing seats, only weight approx 15-20lbs, vs approx 30-40lbs stock
Rear seat delete, rear seats don't weigh but like 50lbs, so this is a kinda pointless mod, but since you asked
Remove the spare tire, only weighs about 20 lbs and you better pray to god you don't blow a flat
Carbon Fiber drive shaft, lighter and stronger than aluminum and weighs almost nothing
Lightweight flywheel drops weight and raises accelleration a small hair
Carbon fiber hood, much much lighter than stock, just have to find a shop that can paint carbon fiber
Carbon fiber trunk, same as hood
Carbon fiber front fenders, same as hood
Remove the A/C, a big weight reducer, but kinda drastic
Remove the stero and speakers, same as A/C
Remove the interor panels, also very drastic
