Default OCDII

Hi. I'm new to this board. My check engine light has come on on my 2000, 6 cyc. hard top Mustang. I have a tester for it, but I can't locate the testing connector.
The Haynes manual shows it as being on the right side engine compartment near the firewall, but I couldn't find it there. Checked all over the engine compartment and checked under the dash but no luck. Anybody have any ideas where I can find the connector?

hmmm it should be on the drives side area, it should be located near a fuse box panel in the engine department, there should be a black square box where you plug dios tester into.

Ok, I know where the fuse box is that you are referring to. So I should be looking for a black box that the tester plugs to and not a wiring harness that it is hanging from?

Sorry, the thread should have read the OBDII, but I am sure everyone figured that out by now. Thanks.

Well I looked all over the fuse block in the engine comopartment on the drivers side and I couldn't find it there. In fact I don't see it anywhere in the engine compartment unless they have it hid fairly well. Anyone else know where they might have put the OBDII diagnostics plug in a 6 Cyl. 2000 mustang?

Yes you are correct. I found a site that listed it's location and on the 2000 mustang it is in the drivers compartment between the steering column and the center console. Interesting, according to the site, by law the tester connector has to be within 3' of the driver, wither in or outside the passenger compartment. I found someone who had a tester and got me the trouble code, (see new post) so now I am trying to narrow down the cause. Right now working nights cuts into my availble time to work on it until the weekend comes.
