Increasing displacement...
Hello all, i just wanted to know if it was possible to increase the displacement using some kind of modification. I've heard of people "stroking" thier motors. I guess it's a process of machining the engine block, or more specifically the cylinders until they are slightly bigger. What kind of displacement increse would this yield and what effect on the longevity of the engine could I expect if it were possible? Would 4.0 be doable?
I believe Super Six Motorsports has the 4.2L Stroker Kit. You have to take your engine to a machine shop to get the block honed/bored. What happens is the "drill" out the cylinders to fit bigger pistons in their. Also putting in longer rods increases the stroke length. Displacement is based on stroke and bore, so the more you have of either the bigger the displacement is. The 4.0 in the new stangs is strokable to atleast 4.3. That is without me doing any research so,
3.8/3.9 = 4.2L
4.0 = 4.3L
3.8/3.9 = 4.2L
4.0 = 4.3L
Whoa... you can increase it all the way to 4.2? Sweet! That's enough to keep me in the 6 instead of switching to an eight. What would that be in horsepower... hrm... if 4.6 is roughly 260-ish, and 3.8 is 170-ish... that'd put it right at 200? give or take 10? Which kit should I buy, and how much should it cost... again, what will this do to engine longevity?

Would the engine even be the same? Using a truck engine doesn't really sit with me. :S
