Depends on what year the car is. After 99 I think(maybe as early as 97) you may need a fuel line tool you can pick up at any parts store. I changed mine without the line tool, but if something breaks, well, just use the tool. It's not expensive at all. And the PCV valve is on the passenger side valve cover.

EDIT~
Be very careful when removing the fuel filter. The system is under pressure, and it's pretty easy to get some gas in your eyes.

take the fuse out for the fuel filter, then start the car and let it run till it dies to get excess fuel out of the line

thats hard on the pump..

Most fuel pumps have a little nut you unscrew and the other end pops out, easy enough. Some of them have little plastic clips you simply pull out. Like said above, watch out for the gas to spray out. Sometimes it even takes almost a minute and then it sprays out like a garden hose.

Actually, it states in the Haynes manual, tto do the following for 94-98;

1)The fuel pump switch - sometimes called the "inertia switch" - which shuts off the fuel to the engine is the even of a collision, affords a simple and convenient means by which fuel pressure can be relieved before servicing fuel injection components. The switch is located in the luggage compartment (Diver's Side) nd is usually covered by the carpet which comes up the side of the trunk.
2)Unplug the inertia switch electrical connector.
3) Start the engine and allow it to run until it stops. This should take only a few seconds, but it may take up to 10 minutes.
4) The fuel system pressure is now relieved. When you're finished working on the fuel system, simply plug the electrical connector back into the switch. If the inertia switch was "popped" (activated) during this procedure, push the reset button on the top of the switch.

Not sure what year your Stang is, but I am sure the 99+ aren't that different.

Good luck.

definatley get the too. Stick it on each side of the fuel line next to the filter and wiggle it back and forth while pulling the tool apart. After u get the took you will understand. I never ran all the gas out and it wasn;t that bad. Have a bucket to catch the excess fuel from the filter and out of the line. I will probably be dirty. Take ur time and dont give up it can get frustrating. Really an easy replace. PCV valve is on the drivers side valve cover just back from the oil cap. On my 2000 anyway. If you plow in it hard and air comes out freely it is fine. just clean it off and put it bakc in. sorry kind of long but hope it helps.

We just put a bottle on the line when we unhook it and all the gas goes in it.
