A Jthorn. What would you think of a pacesetter H pipe adapter and GT takeoffs? Also can you use the H from a GT?

And cisurfer. Flowmaster 40s will give you a nice sound.

what does the X pipe do...if i replace the stock muffler with a super 40 series wouldnt it make it sound good at all
The 40 sounds decent on a sixer at LOW revs, but once you hit higher revs you can definately tell it is a sixer. The X-pipe will also give it a throatier sound and free up slightly more horses. Either way, unfortunately, it will sound like a 6 when revved.

Unfortunately he had to learn that first hand standing besides my car.
Dude, the ground literally shook around me when you started the car up ...

What did I say? "GOD DAMN" or something like that ... Then you made me start my car and DIDN'T BELIEVE I HAD TRUE DUALS!

i just want that flowmaster sound like it has power...eventually when i get a lotta money im goin to put a cold air and prolyl a cat back or some **** but i owe my dad 1k for this car i bought so im tryint o keep it cheap here but not sure if replaceing the muffler will give me soem sound
I honestly don't think you can just replace the muffler ... You can have them cut the thing off and put a new exhaust pipe on it, but that seems kind of pointless. Y-pipes are NOT good at all. True duals are decent, they are what I have. X-Pipe is also good, and H-Pipe isn't bad. I don't know the power differences, but I know the sound differences between True and X, and the X sounds better on certain cars (GT) than the True sounds on other cars (V6). CAI won't affect the sound too greatly, so don't get your hopes up.

That will work, only damn problem is that it's based on using all four stock cats, so you're not going to get as deep and throaty of a sound. Personally I don't like GT takeoffs, just not throaty enough for me, BUT if you can get some high flow cats in there, or remove them all together and install an aftermarket set of mufflers, you'll sound pretty decent then. No a GT H pipe will not work on a sixer, their mounting angles and lengths are a little different. Personally I reccommend Borla, Magnaflow, or Bassini catbacks, but Flowmasters make a decent sound.

Ive told you I seen the Borla exhaust and the pic showed a kit that bolts up to the y pipe. 2 into 1 into 2. Couldnt find anything from bassini. Are the magnaflows a y pipe bolt on or a real dual exhaust? Everyone of those kits bolt to the y pipe. Doesnt anyone make a true dual exhaust kit?

Yeah, the kit Borla makes for the V6s bolts straight onto the Y-pipe - but if you get an X- or H-pipe you can use their GT kits (which for some reason are way cheaper than the V6 kits).

That's the route I'm planning to take with my 6'er, when I get the money for it...

ya know thats a good idea. I mite just do that wit a super 40 series. The only thing is i dont know if i will get introuble wit inspection with a turndown before the axle. i live in nj and i dont know where to find the laws about that stuff. Is it possible to clamp the stock tail pipe up to the new muffler as well

well if i wanna keep it cheap goin wit just a muffler isnt bad is it.
get a Force muffler part# FRC-5201 it is 2.25" and only costs $32.95 and is almost identical to an $80 Flowmaster. available from http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

slap it on inplace of the stock muffler and put a turndown right after the muffler. that will get you the most agressive sound on a cheap budget with a single exhaust setup

Stock mustangs have 2.25", now here's the catch, if you go with an after market exhaust to achieve true duals you'll have to get 2.5" which isn't bad, but will reduce a little backpressure which lowers low end hp and torque, it does however equal itself out in the upper revs. DO NOT PUT 3.00" EXHAUST ON A V6, you'll loose so much backpressure you'll actually drastically lower low end hp and torque and also hurt peak hp and torque. 2.25" is optimal for stock to mildly moded sixers, but only way to get them is with GT take offs or custom exhaust. I say keep it simple and just get a 2.5" V6 x pipe and then get a set of GT cat backs.
you are full of crap and do not understand exhaust flow at all.

you want ZERO BACKPRESSURE backpressure means the engine has to work to breath. anything that make the engine work will take HP. 0 backpressure and highvelocity is what you want

dual 3" is not going to make you lose power. a guy at 3.8mustang.com gained a good bit of power on his cammed 3.8 with dual 3"

also this guy is trying to stay as cheap as possible. going to an X setup is going to cost alot more than he can spend. if anything for a dual setup just slap on a GT takeoff maybe add some force mufflers but ideally just a Force muffler inplace of his factory one with a turndown will give him a good sound and be under $50 total
