a new cam is useless unless you plan on getting new heads and intake. to have a shop install a new cam only, your looking at over a grand. I would just save up for H/C/I it will save you more time and money. and be worth your while....

a cam is not useless without better heads and intakes, but it will definately not see the most of its possible gains without them. i understand that if you're going to be tearing into the motor you "may as well do the other two at the same time", but that doesn't mean a cam is useless. btw if a cam costs a g to install, i'd like to be your mechanic.

Call a shop up and get a rough estimate, my guess is going to be around $700, that's just a guess though, which includes install and porting of the intake.

Any idea how much horsepower im looking to get at the wheels with cams, heads, and intake? Will it be louder, or will it just have a better idle?

My friend was quoted a little over $1000 for his h/c install on his 05' GTO. I guess it would be the same price for the Mustang. You also have to remember that parts are gonna cost a pretty penny too.

my brother charges less than that. he charges $450 for a pushrod and $150 per cam on overheads. that's with a tune.

I guess it depends where you go and what kind of car it is.
