sevice engine soon 0401
0401 is the code it spits out. Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected is what the book says. I was told get a new gas cap, it isnt sealing right did that not it. told to clean egr valve did that cleared the code and it came back again I was going to replace the egr valve and or sensor next but the parts store doesn't even have a parts number for it ???? ???????? Any help or ideas appreciated
yea thanks
changed egr valve(cleaned all the hoses b4 installing new on .. Now I get the 0401 code and another one 1401 which says Differential preasure feedback egr circuit High input .... CAN SOMEONE help me or do I have to take the damn thing to the dealership?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? I can't pass emmisions to get my tags till I fix whatever the problem is.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0401 indicates that Continuous Memory Self-Test has detected insufficient EGR flow.
Possible causes:
*EGR valve diaphragm leaks.
*EGR valve or flow path restricted.
EVR circuit to PCM open.
EVR circuit to PCM shorted to PWR.
Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (D.P.F. EGR) sensor pressure hoses both connected improperly.
D.P.F. EGR sensor pressure hoses reversed.
D.P.F. EGR sensor VREF circuit open.
Downstream pressure hose off.
Downstream pressure hose plugged.
Damaged orifice tube assembly.
Damaged D.P.F. EGR sensor.
Damaged PCM.

Well the EGR circuit has nothing to do with your gas cap, that was poor advice. You need to see if the EGR valve is leaking (not holding a vacuum), if its not then most likely the solenoid isnt working and isn't sending vacuum to it. You can spray carb cleaner around it and see if it changes the idle any if so then you have a leak (do it after the car warms up). A diagnostic scanner (not a cheap parts store unit) can test the solenoid for proper operation. Other than that a vacuum hose off someowhere in the EGR system and after that then theirs a wiring problem (not likely) or PCM problem (not likely).
P1401 Differential Pressure Feedback Electronic Sensor circuit High Voltage. The DPFE sensor is tested for out of range values (typically >4.96 volts, <0.195 volts) and if this is detected the DTC P1400 or P1401 is set. If your getting both codes then it sounds as though you need to change the DPFE, its likely the cause of both codes. These pics may help as well:
