get the 5 8 dollar tool from the parts store and clamp it around the tube that comes out of the filter itself. Then slide the tool towards the line where it is mushroomed out. The tool will fit up inside the part that is mushroomed out then u wiggle, pull, do anything to break it loose. It takes some time and effort but not that difficult. I actually managed to get it off the first time I tried replacing mine. Just use the tool and keep trying.
