Default sidewall size

I have a stock 97 with 205/65/15's. The sidewall is large, especially compared to many aftermarket tires i see people with on here. I want to diminish that size (not too low of profile but definitely smaller than what it is).

Can I do it without changing my speedometer aka getting a tune? I see so many people with smaller aftermarket sidewall height and i'm sure not all of those people have tunes so what, do they just have a speedo thats a little off and thats about it? Any other problems faced by going with a different size sidewall?

your spedo will be a little bit off but if you get somethin like 215/60/15 it will be just a tiny bit smaller. to go any smaller will really mess up your spedo and you will need to get a tuner to fix it. the people you see all have aftermarket wheels right? the goal is to keep the wheel plus tire diameter the same as what it is stock "yours" for the people w/ aftermarket wheels. they have bigger wheels so they have to get smaller tires to account for that so that it stays the same outside diameter and they dont need to tune it.
