Default 95: a few questions

1) The oil pressure gauge is dead. I bought a replacement sender/switch but I can't find where it goes on the engine. Where is it? What else would fail?

2) Is it normal for the engine to "hunt" at idle in park? ie. the idle goes up and down when not in gear.
Suggestions?

3) the gas tank leaks when you fill it up. well the solution is to not fill it up all the way but how would I go about replacing the massive rubber grommet from the fuel filler neck?

4) is there a website that has a listing of repair procedures for stuff like that?

1) my repair manual didn't say where it is, on the 5.0 it's next to the oil filter but for the V6 it might be near or in the timing chain cover.

2) could be a vacuum leak, intake manifold could be loose, plugged pcv valve, air filter, fuel pump etc....

3) For the gas tank you have to drop the take (near empty) very easy.

4) I use a Haynes repair manual.

hope this helps.

Hey, my repair manual didn't say either (Haynes), but thanks. I guess I'll have to dig around for it.

The intake manifold can come loose? I guess I'll do a propane test for vacuum leaks. The fuel pump could be bad? How could I tell?

Look in your manual at chapter 4-2 sec. 3

I found the temp sender! It's the orange dot on the middle.

I also had to fashion a guide rod (ie cheap gutted plastic pen) to help get the new sender in place. If anyone goes to do this, use a deep 26mm socket. Find a cheap pen, yank the ink tip out, and screw the new sender on the open end. Total time: 10 mins. Don't forget the thread sealant.
