why does the base 98 mustang only have 145 horse power.thats only 5 more then a eclipse with alot more weight!! im goin to look at my mustang minday hopefully i get approved for mounthly payments but.

 

Actually they have 150, but their rwhp #s aren't so great, they only have like around 115-125 rwhp stock.

Here's the thing, the 94-98 GTs only had 215-225 rwhp, so of course the V6 is gonna be much lower rated, however, remember this, the V6 replaced the 2.3L I-4 in 94, the 93 I-4 only had 105 hp, so the 145 hp V6 was seen as a huge increase in performance.

 

Haha, they did a lot of things wrong in 96-98. Except for the cobra.

 

so when i get my stang i i say when because im prayin i do!!could i swap in a gt or cobra engine with out haveing to change alot. and if so what would i hae to change? i looked at crate moters but they cost as much as the car!!

@ MUDDER: You might as well just get a GT of the same year. You can't just bolt up and entirely new engine.
