A stock 99+ mustang will kill an Eclipse if its the gs or rs.

I owned a 93 Eclipse GS (135HP) and let me tell you it was the biggest POS ever built. Slow is an understatement. You will win. The GST/GSX (AWD) has 200hp turbo I4. Those models will probably win.

or he doesn't know the real hp...which seems to be the case, so the question of what year is the car seems to be pretty valid.</P>

i dunno about that race... I have a v6 stang with a dual flowmaster straightpipe exhaust system and i raced my friends 91 honda accord with the only sup up being an intake and i just barelly beat him everytime. Im not happy with the v6 stangs at all man. And yeah, 98s and under have 150 horse.

V6 Mustangs (barring nitrous Johnny) were never meant to be performance cars, so don't be disappointed with the performance... you knew about how slow they were when you bought the car. If it was a 5spd GS-T, then it could beat you starting in 2nd gear (literally), but an automatic RS/GS will be a close race. Go from a stop, because you will lose from a roll.

OHC cars (especially ones with extreme high-rpm powerbands) tend to do alot better once at speed than from a stop. While the two cars might have similar 1/4 mile times, the Eclipse will have better trap speed, and trap speed is a good indicator of how a car will do from a roll. That's how my car is a good race for 94-98 GTs. I might not have much power, but I have great gearing, low weight, and good breathing topend.<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

you're looking at high 16s for the Mustang, and high 16s for the Eclipse.

actually a few 5 speedrs/gs have hit in thelow 16s stock (some with a few mods have got into the high 15s). automatic 2nd generationrs/gsis about a full second slower than the manual ones. the 2nd generation eclipse(rs/gs) camewith a 2.0 liter 4, and then you have the turbo eclipse (gst-gsx) that will kill you so if its that your screwed. the only second generation to come with the 2.4L was the convertible non-turbo eclipse. find out what model he has and if he has any mods. also is your car an auto or manual? <edited><editID>CaTiRo</editID><editDate>38000.6632291667</editDate></edited>
