Default quick question

I'm thinking of upgrading the gears in my Automatic to give it more exceleration. Is it smart to put them in an automatic? and do I have to change the computer settings on the car to adapt to them.

And If it's ok then which set should I get... I was think just going all the wat and getting 4.10. How much will that decrease my top speed?

And if I have to change the Comp setting will a mechanic or a ford dealer ship be able to do. ( I don't have the money to buy a tuner or the knowlage of how to tyune it right.)

Thank in advanced...

it wont decrease your top speed, you dont have the power to achieve it, you will still be drag limited to around 135

you also need an LSD unit

my vote, 4.10s and a true trac

hmm... I guess a better Diff. would be needed to handle the energy transfer...

Any idea how much they would cost each, or total... and what about the install... I can do some engine work but this is a little out my league...[sm=insomnia.gif]

So around $1200 ballpark... sweet... so only like 3 or 4 months of saving every penny I earn... alot cheaper than have in a manual tranny put in... but I might do that eventually too....

oh and if I have those installed what about the computer... will it need to be reset?

Nope, you're an early sn95, so all you'll need is the 23 tooth speedo gear, it corrects the speedo.

i got quoted at $650 for everything. that included t-lock, 4.10's, all install parts and fluids, and labor. it's a good mod if you have the money. i was just going to stick with the t-lock because i don't plan on going all out high horsepower, so the t-lock would be sufficient.

t-lock? If you don't mind me asking what is that? I'm not familiar with all the abreviations...
