Engine knocking terribly
My stang has about 181k miles on it, somewhere within the last500 miles it has aquired a terrible knocking sound. This sound started out soft and has gotten louder of course. It also gets worse as the engine warms up more. At first I suspected it was maybe a trashed bearing in my crankshaft, but I had a friend (semi mechanic type) look at it today. He seems to think it's one of my pistons banging against another bearing. Of course the sound increases in speed as the rpms get higher. I know this is a fairly open ended question, thanks in part to my lack of knowledge of the in-depth workings of an engine itself. Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what you did about it. All relative responses appreciated.
Rod bearing
alittle advise don't trust your mechanic friend because there is no way a piston can bang against a bearing.
it's a rod bearing for sure. i would lay $500 on it.
look around for a 97+ F-150 engine in a junkyard it a 4.2L and will give a nice little boost in power over the 3.8 and the only thing you have to change is use the 4.2L flywheel and put your mustanf upper intake/injector rail and T-body on the 4.2
the 4.2 in a nice torquey engine and can be scored and installed for less than rebuilding your current engine which it really needs badly
