Default Once again, gear question (sorry)

Ok, this is for the people who have 4.10s with the t-lok.

I got off the phone with my uncle and he is making me second guess buying these gears. He said that I wont be able to take the car to Maine ( I live in CT ) because its going to be to hard on the car since I went to 4.10s. I wont be able to drive on the highway much. So Im asking you guys who have these gears with the t-lok, how is it on the highway? I don't do anything over 80, unless Im trying to get over into another lane and have to go faster. Any advice or insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

dude just play it safe and go with 3.73s. 4.10s dont make a big enough difference to outweigh the negatives of having them.. did that make sense?. 3.73s are the best all around gears. do u have a auto or manual?

Put it this way, I have 3.55s and love them, they don't make that ratio for sixers, but 3.73s are just as good. 4.10s can be used on a DD, but 3.73s are so much easier on the car.

it's not going to be hard on the car and i don't see how you could really even justify paying all sorts of cash to install gears that aren't going to give you the most bang for your buck. my guess is you uncle is old school and is used to old cars without overdrive running really high rpms on the highway with 4.10's.

I am an auto. Yes he is old school haha. So all in all I will be fine on the highway with 4.10s?

I already have the 4.10s, jsut waiting for them to be installed. But just after reading all these posts and peoples different views Im getting confused on what to think.

Hey red- as far as acceleration, there has to be a difference from what you had stock. Im not looking for anything huge or anything. How fast can you get it on the highway now with the 4.10s?

We've taken my wife's '04 V6 automatic on two round trips from Texas to Michigan, at cruising speeds of 75-80 mph, with 4.10's and a T-Lok installed. That's just a little farther than a trip from Connecticut to Maine you moght say, and we've had no problems with gas mileage or rpm or all the other usual arguments you'll hear. All these horror stories you've been hearing about 4.10's and the highway, or for daily driving, are BS, and this comes from someone who actually has them instead of from someone who's "heard' about them. Keep the 4.10's, install them, and ENJOY...

Hey guys, I have a '96, just wondering what the stock gear ratio would be. Thinking hard on 4.10's, but from what I read on different forums, there is a conflict of interest. My car has 144k on the engine, so should I opt for the 3.73's? Also, the LSD/tlok... where's a good place to purchase one, price-wise? Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.
