Default service engine soon

check engine light came up recently,checked my oil, was very low, changed it just now and started my char and still has the light on... any thoughts ? never had any problems with the car.

You have to have it turned off with a programmer. Or, you can disconnect the battery and then reconnect it and see if it still turns on. If it still turns on that means the oil wasn't the problem.

Go to Pepboys, AutoZone, CSK, etc and have them pull the code. Then if it was just for low oil(which I really doubt), then you will need to have it reset. Gone are the days of just disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds to reset the light.

but if it doesn't come on again after he resets it wouldn't that mean it was the oil and he didn't have to make a trip to get his car scanned?

Go to Autozone .. my check engie light came on because my coolant temp was too low and my tps sensor was messed up.

If you fix the problem then re-connect the battery how could the computer sense a problem

it has somethin to do w/ your emissions system. not sure what that code is though. you sure its 456?

P0456 = Evaporative Emission Control System (very small leak detected)

The source of the fuel odor may be either in the vicinity of the fuel filler pipe or the evaporative emissions cannister.
